Chinese Coin Ash Tray
These commemorative pieces were customarily made from two coins. One, the outer was
hammered flat which causes the silver to ‘raise’ along the outer edge, having the effect of
thinning the center so that a second coin is 'let-into' the center.
This piece depicts Yuan Chih Kai who as a powerful War Lord established himself as
leader of China w/the intention of making himself Emperor in place of Pu Yi, (the last
Emperor) cr 1924?.
Shaped faux bamboo outer edge w/nodules.
